PODNIVO / DEVELOPER GUIDE

A backend for your podcast app

Keep subscriptions, listening history and playback progress together, with listener data isolated inside your application workspace.

One listener, one application boundary

Use your application's external user ID with the listener endpoints. Subscriptions, history and playback positions stay scoped to your workspace; another customer's app cannot read them.

Authenticate mobile and browser clients safely

Your backend mints a short-lived listener token with POST /v1/user-tokens. The token is limited to that listener. Keep the long-lived server API key out of public client bundles and browser storage.

Build a listening home screen

GET /v1/users/{externalUserId}/home combines continue listening, new subscription episodes, recommendations and recent listening state. The subscriptions, progress and history routes support the rest of the listening journey.

Let listeners bring their subscriptions

OPML import and export help users move their subscriptions. Listener export and deletion let your backend respond to user data requests without combining records across customer workspaces.

Start discovery with the podcast search API, then add listener state as your app grows.

Start with the documentation

Read the authentication and API quickstart, inspect the interactive API reference, or compare request quotas and pricing. The Free plan includes 2,000 requests per month.
